The Besa Museum restores the Toptani Residence and adds a new underground wing with spaces for temporary exhibitions, archives, education, and an auditorium. The courtyard above becomes a Zen garden with light wells, while adjacent buildings are repurposed as a cultural café, shop, and public passage. Together, they form a cohesive museum complex integrated into the urban fabric of Tirana.
Rooted in the Albanian code of honor, Besa, the museum is conceived as a living experience of hospitality, protection, tradition, and honor. It transforms traditional spaces into places of gathering and reflection, celebrating acts of moral courage throughout Albanian history. Visitors are immersed both intellectually and emotionally in the enduring spirit of Besa—an inherited, ever-growing gift of trust and humanity.
