SHORTLIST ARCHITECTURE | Garden Landscape

Project Description

In response to the programmatic needs of the client emerges the intention of creating a floating habitable volume wrapped by the surrounding foliage; refuge from parallel constructions. A concrete/steel/wood amalgam rises embracing the large ash tree, engine of the project. Imagined as a continuous discovery, the journey begins through a path of exuberant vegetation dissolving the presence of a series of inclined steel columns that support the seemingly weightless volumes. Concrete, wood and steel configure interior and exterior spaces materializing the subtle frontier which delineates this buoyant retreat.

Project Concept

Conceptualized as a buoyant retreat, a studio-toy library is inserted with great subtlety over the dense underlying vegetation sheltered by the shade of the old ash tree. Dance of volumes and surfaces; interior and exterior; dense and permeable; whose particularities engender dissimilar-concatenated spaces. The journey through the dense vegetation bifurcates; below the platform made up of pieces of solid wood, the sun traces lines of light like incisions through the dense green lattice to be discovered; on the other way; the path forged by thick slices of treated log, like an oscillating serpent, give form to the stairs that invite you to walk to the volume built on the elevated level. A reading or meditation area on the floating net, dynamic areas with the zip line and swing, study/work/entertainment inside the concrete body, transit/contemplation areas through the suggestive path immersed in a green foliage weaved into the steel grid and downstairs columns as they become embedded within earth. Symbiosis of spaces that are discovered, transited, inhabited either intertwined or in absolute intimacy.
