Product Description

This custom landscape bollard, launched in 2024, was designed for the Passive House Forest Retreat in Pemberton, BC. Its angular silhouette reflects the home’s bold architectural form, creating a unified relationship between lighting and structure.

Made from Corten steel, the bollard is durable, fire-resistant, and designed to weather naturally into its forested setting. Providing low, directional illumination along outdoor paths, it blends function with sculptural presence, quietly reinforcing the project’s values of sustainability, resilience, and material honesty.

Product Concept

Designed as an extension of the Passive House Forest Retreat, this landscape pathway bollard brings architectural intent into the natural environment. The concept stems from a desire to create outdoor lighting that feels integrated, not added, reflecting the angular geometry and grounded elegance of the retreat itself.

The form draws directly from the home’s bold, faceted upper volume, reinterpreted at a human scale. This creates a sense of continuity between the built structure and its forested landscape. Crafted from Corten steel, the material was chosen for its resilience, low maintenance, and the way it naturally evolves in place, mirroring the retreat’s philosophy of durability and adaptability.

Functionally, the bollard provides subtle, directional lighting to guide movement without overpowering the site’s quiet atmosphere. It acts as both a wayfinding element and a sculptural object, reinforcing the project’s emphasis on sustainability, restraint, and connection to place.
