Project Description

Casa Tobi is a project located on the coast of Oaxaca, on a steeply sloped site that descends westward, offering breathtaking views of the sunset and the crashing waves of the Pacific. With a narrative and reflection rooted in simple architectural principles, Casa Tobi reinterprets traditional elements of its context through a playful architectural approach, where spaces are revealed fluidly and seek to surprise.

Project Concept

The design features a stepped layout that follows the site’s natural slope, enhancing views and integrating seamlessly with the landscape. The main entrance on the upper level opens to a terrace with a reflecting pool that mirrors the surroundings and cools the lower-level social areas. A narrow walkway descends to a double-height space with panoramic views, housing flexible communal areas such as the study, kitchen, and living room. The lowest level contains the bedrooms, blending views with treetops for a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Earth-toned materials and water features evoke the natural landscape of Puerto Escondido.
