Project Concept

The CSC X CD Green House has been conceived as a project that encourages porosity, creating public awareness at large and promoting Indian craftsmanship. A built form that is Indian in spirit and international in expression. A modern mindful museum nestled in a forest constructed with materials that promote and encourage sustainability and eco sensitivity. The building draws a parallel between weave of fabric and the mesh of diverse cultures coming together for a meaningful cause. Much like the layers in fabric the built mass is an overlay of spaces that constantly engage with the user.

Open to sky entry courts coupled with internal light courts create a typology that is closely connected with the outdoors. Infused with terraced gardens, cascading roof greens, large trees and shrubs, the design helps to generate a microclimate that keeps the temperatures in control throughout the year. With a keen eye on sustainability, the building uses locally manufactured materials as the primary material for construction.

The diverse program for the project is aesthetically held together by a lattice roof that floats above the built forms. The nerve centre of the project is the large central courtyard that holds all the facilities together. Conceived as a place for the community to come together and participate in events that celebrate the master art and craft.
