The Tirana campus centers on a circular “agora,” a sandy concrete dome inspired by Albania’s bunkers, housing an inclusive auditorium. Three main buildings—gateway, university, and diplomatic—surround it, linked by a grand foyer extending to a green roof terrace. Deep loggias connect floors, fostering social interaction. Dark-red pigmented concrete facades echo local heritage and feature murals, creating an open, symbolic space embodying European ideals within Albania’s culture.
The College of Europe’s Tirana campus draws inspiration from the city’s vibrant culture, social life, and history of civic engagement, especially student activism at the nearby Godina LIRIA building. It fosters democratic, inclusive spaces that encourage public interaction and cultural exchange. The design reflects Albanian heritage and European ideals, creating a campus that celebrates local identity while embodying unity, cooperation, and Europe’s shared future.
