The project reconnects an old Omani house to a newer commercial structure turning both into a cohesive third place rooted in local identity. The original spatial spirit of the house expands across the site with half arches framing new perspectives and handmade tiles reinterpreting traditional carpet motifs. Every element from furniture to partitions was custom designed to serve a sensory and social experience. The space now functions as a café gallery and event venue offering a contemporary response to Muscat’s changing urban life.
This project was envisioned as a new third place for the contemporary Omani community one that offers not only a physical escape between home and work but also an emotional and sensory sanctuary Rooted in the cultural memory of a traditional Omani house the design reimagines its essence within a contemporary architectural language
Unlike the region’s historically patriarchal spatial traditions this space embraces feminine energy Through softness warmth openness and the invitation to be present it fosters an environment where empathy and coexistence flourish The intention was to subtly shift the atmosphere from dominance to dialogue and from function to feeling
Inspired by the name Feel every spatial decision was made to engage the five human senses in harmony The goal was to move beyond function and into the realm of feeling where light sound scent texture and taste come together to elevate the visitor’s awareness This multisensory approach was essential in shaping a place that does not just host activity but awakens a deeper human connection
A verse by Hafiz offered both spiritual and architectural direction
“The porch of my eyes is your nest be modest and perch it is your abode to rest”
This poem was translated into a design language of arches thresholds and shadows that form patterns across the space grounding visitors in beauty and meaning as they move through it
Feel Boutique Plaza transforms the private into the poetic and the poetic into the social It is a gentle yet radical reimagination of what public life in Muscat can feel like welcoming inclusive rooted in memory and designed to be truly felt.
