Project Description

Imperceptible at first glance, this delicate chapel project is based on a negative volume. That is, a void in the ground which, under a subtle roof, creates an intimate and welcoming space where a pinpoint of light gradually illuminates the entire area.

The access ramp, in addition to functioning as a promenade leading to the temple, also acts as a transitional device, both by means of the gradually diminishing natural light and by the sensation of descending into the earth, which symbolically suggests a passage to another state of mind, more introspective and silent.

Project Concept

The light primarily penetrates through a single opening above and lands directly on the altar, revealing a small pond where water gently flows along the cyclopean concrete volume. Like a waterfall, this feature reveals the presence of nature, carefully framed within the space.

The project proposes a quiet architecture where each gesture creates a place of shelter, spirituality, and connection with the essential elements: light, water, matter, and time.
