SHORTLIST ARCHITECTURAL REPRESENTATION | Videos

Project Description

Short Film – 2min28s
Produced by NY18 Studio

A poetic short film that invites the viewer into a home where the weekend is a state of mind. Through light, space, and subtle gestures, Inércia reveals architecture not just as a structure, but as a way of inhabiting time with sensitivity and presence. A reflection on stillness, movement, and the quiet beauty of everyday life.

Project Concept

Inércia: the tendency of a body to remain as it is, in rest or in motion, until acted upon by an external force.

The idea for Inércia was born during a heartfelt briefing with the clients. Gabriel and Isabela, architecture school sweethearts, designed the house as a weekend refuge for Gabriel’s parents. But during the process, Gabriel’s father passed away, and the house, once imagined for weekend escapes, transformed into something deeper: a space where time softened, and life took on the rhythm of a perpetual weekend.

This emotional context shaped the film’s core. Inércia became a film about what continues, even when it seems to have stopped. A meditation on the subtle tension between movement and stillness, between habit and change.

A small ball crosses the air. We don’t know if it’s play, provocation, or poetry. Somewhere between the gesture of throwing and the silence of receiving, life unfolds, invisibly, delicately.

The film reflects:
– the persistence of an emotional state;
– the repetition of rituals and routines;
– the quiet flow of living without resistance;
– or the stillness that lingers, even when change is needed.

Inércia is not just about architecture — it’s about time, memory, and the quiet beauty of things that remain.
