Living with Modernity

Description:

Government Museum and Art Gallery (designed by Le Corbusier) as viewed from the terrace of Chandigarh Architecture Museum (designed by S.D Sharma). Captured during the onset of spring, when the non-flowering trees in Chandigarh undergo a huge leaf fall before sprouting new leaves. It is an attempt to play with the layers of these two buildings, which are placed diagonally opposite to each other in the museum complex.

Inspiration:

Like the title suggests, which is shamelessly copied from the book, Brasília – Chandigarh: Living With Modernity by Iwan Baan… I often think of all the amazing buildings around the world and the opportunities to photograph them… at the same time, the reality of living in Chandigarh, “living with modernity”, hits hard. It is humbling to know that so many amazing architects and photographers from across the globe have visited this city and have created beautiful images. I visit these structures time and again, to explore and to question if, I as an architectural photographer from the city can see them any differently.
