Solidifying Paola Lenti’s brand presence in Brazil, P422 provides a Brazilian home for the acclaimed Italian designer, while reflecting some of its characteristics in the building’s design. Three architectural choices create this dialog: the simplicity of the layout; the construction method; and the facade. Designed to give center stage to the furniture on display, the simple open floor plan allows for infinite spatial arrangements with numerous furniture layouts. The construction method, an independent metal structure, grants fluidity and continuity to the building's interior. The structural grid echoes the technical precision celebrated in Lenti’s furniture. Lastly, a green facade created from a weave of plants attached to steel cables tensioned across the metal structure spans, wind their way towards the ground. A translation of Lenti’s design, in which manufactured weaves and fibers make up the brand's unique intersection of craftsmanship and technology.
P422 was conceived as an art gallery to showcase the furniture of Italian designer Paola Lenti. With an open floor plan and exposed lighting infrastructure, the space was designed to adapt to a wide variety of furniture arrangements. The exhibition space is enclosed by a glass box supported by a freestanding metal structure. Filtering the intense natural light falling upon the building’s transparent surfaces, a curtain of greenery cascades down the facades, supported by steel cables tensioned between the structural modules.
