Project Description

Seriema House is a single-story residence situated on a rural property outside Belo Horizonte. The design is organized around a sinuous central wall that defines two distinct spatial zones within the house. Large glazed openings connect the interior to the surrounding landscape, offering unobstructed views of the mountains on one side and immersive contact with the forest on the other. Project Concept

The concept of Seriema House is rooted in transition and duality. The project explores the tension and harmony between two contrasting landscapes: the vastness of the mountains and the intimacy of the forest. Architecture becomes a medium of pause and reflection, a space where time slows down and encounters are intentional. Inspired by the poetic nature of the site and the resident’s desire for a contemplative retreat, the design is articulated through a single, expressive gesture: a curved wall that separates yet connects. On one side, a vibrant, extroverted environment; on the other, a quiet, immersive refuge. The house is not merely a dwelling, but a crafted experience—where matter, memory, and nature converge into a living poem.
