Shebara is a 73-key hyper-luxury eco-resort situated on Sheybarah Island within Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Archipelago. Developed by Red Sea Global, the resort exemplifies a seamless integration of ultra-luxury and regenerative design. Surrounded by one of the world’s most pristine marine ecosystems, including coral reefs, turtle nesting zones, desert flora, and mangroves, Shebara is a pioneering response to the Vision 2030 initiative, offering a fully off-grid experience based on zero-energy, zero-water, and zero-waste operations.
The concept of Shebara draws deeply from the island’s natural palette, its crystalline waters, shifting sands, and celestial horizons. The overwater stainless steel villas were inspired by the natural formation of pearls in the sea. Each overwater villa is positioned like a floating orb, suspended over the pristine waters of the Red Sea, reflecting and refracting the ever-changing light and colours of the sea and the sky. The arrival experience is designed as a radiant pendant, setting the stage for an unparalleled journey through hyper-luxury and sustainability.
Along the beachfront, the stainless-steel orbs continue the narrative. The interplay of light, reflection, and materiality creates a dynamic experience, at certain hours, the orbs vanish into their surroundings; at others, they become beacons of futuristic serenity.
The design and delivery of Shebara were shaped by a commitment to environmental stewardship and off-grid innovation. All villas were entirely constructed, fitted out, and commissioned offshore, then shipped to site as near “plug-in” modules to the solar-powered infrastructure, achieving zero energy, water, and waste integration. This offshore methodology was implemented to preserve the island’s fragile ecosystem, minimising any disturbance to its coral reefs, native flora, and wildlife.
As the first resort owned and operated by Red Sea Global, Shebara is a testament to what’s possible when visionary design, sustainability, and cultural sensitivity converge. Named one of TIME magazine’s World’s Greatest Places of 2025, it redefines ultra-luxury not as excess but as authenticity, stillness, and harmony.
