Totem is a multifunctional piece from the Anachron Series. If one were to define a specific function, it can serve as a storage unit or a space divider. However, its slightly ambiguous nature and adaptability across different spatial contexts are what make it truly distinctive. In open-plan living areas, it can be modularly configured; in entryways, it can act as a welcoming feature; and in bedrooms, it can serve as a display or hanging unit.
A part of the Anachron Series, which draws inspiration from agricultural and pastoral life in Anatolia, Totem could be described as “the village eccentric.” While horsehair in other pieces symbolizes harvest and connection to the earth, in Totem it represents the wild, unkempt hair of the village eccentric — adding character and unpredictability. The piece combines lacewood veneer, symbolizing the warm texture of Anatolian soil and people, with stainless steel legs and telescopic stainless steel rods that can extend up to 4 meters in height.
